Eminem Pays Tribute To Adam Yauch's 'Influence'

Nas, Cee Lo, Jack Black, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and more remember the Beastie Boys' MCA.

Soon after news broke of Beastie Boys rapperAdam Yauch's death following a three-year long battle with cancer, A-listers from the world of hip-hop and elsewhere in the music industry began flooding Twitter with their memories of the influential MC.

Eminem noted the impact MCA and the Beasties had on his career. "Adam Yauch brought a lot of positivity into the world and I think it's obvious to anyone how big of an influence the Beastie Boys were on me and so many others," Em said in a statement to MTV News. "They are trailblazers and pioneers and Adam will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, Mike D., and Ad-Rock.

Nas — who worked with the group on the track "Too Many Rappers," which eventually appeared on the band's last album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two — opened up about recording with the legends to MTV News. "One of my greatest moments in music was when I worked with the Beastie Boys. ... Now today I'm hearing our brother is gone. I prayed this would not happen. MCA was so cool, man. We had great talks about what it was like for them in the beginning, getting into the rap game. I'll never forget that experience for the rest of my life. MCA is a true legend who influenced me. God bless his soul and his loved ones."

Jack Black, who made a cameo in Yauch's "Fight for Your Right Revisited" film in 2011, told MTV News in a statement: "Adam made amazing artwork until the very end and he was a genuinely sweet guy. He will be sorely missed."

With the world mourning the loss of MCA, many of his musical contemporaries are still reeling from the news. "Lollapalooza94 talked to Yauch almost everyday," Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong . "He was full of wisdom & encouragement for a freaked out kid like I was. Thank you MCA. LoveBJ."

Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello , "Rip dear Adam Yauch. Words can't express the sadness and loss. Ur humor, talent & gentle soul are just irreplaceable. Be at peace brother."

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea opened up about the man behind the music: "Prayers and all the love I could ever muster for Adam Yauch. What a beautiful man. God bless his beautiful soul. A class act all the way."

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz noted his influence over his own career, tweeting, "beastie boys paved the way for so many who came after. #RIPMCA"

"This news hits hard," Good Charlotte's Benji Madden tweeted, mirroring Wentz's sentiment. "The Beastie Boys are 1of the reasons I do music&MCA was the captain."

Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am, tweeted, "#restinpeaceMCA 1 of my favorite hiphop groups. hiphop raised a lot of us & now we have to wake up because are hero's are dying too young."

Cee Lo Green added, "Now playing: something's got to give: BEASTIE BOYS R.I.P. M.C.A. One of the best hip-hop groups of all time!much."

Lenny Kravitz recalled one of the group's biggest songs on Twitter while remembering the rapper: "Rest in peace MCA. You are a legend. No sleep 'till Brooklyn. Lenny."

"We are so sorry to hear about the loss of the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch (MCA) a true legend & inspirational to everyone in weezers generation," Weezer said of the late, great MC.

Music producer Diplo was sitting in what used to be the Beasties' recording home, G-Son Studios, when the news broke. "Mca Adam Yauch RIP... Im sittin in the former g son studios," Dip wrote . "Flying the flag half mast today.... Rap/punk hero, philanthropist, legend."

If you're looking to pair up a brand new GS III with a bigger screen, but you're not yet part of the Smart TV generation, then this little accessory could get you out of a fix. It's palm-sized with a single blue LED light indicating a connection, but honestly you don't ever need to look at it: it doesn't need line-of-sight to your handset because it uses a wireless protocol called WiFi Display, which means you can happily leave it dangling out of the way behind your TV. 'Star Trek' Quiz Stumps Benedict Cumberbatch ... Maybe

Is the 'Star Trek 2' villain messing with us? Cumberbatch plays dumb when asked some pretty simple 'Trek' trivia.

Of all the plot points to ponder about the upcoming "Star Trek" sequel, the element on many people's minds pertains to new addition Benedict Cumberbatch and which villain he's playing.

That subject is a closely guarded secret, of course, so in an effort to approach the "Trek 2" topic with the busy and talented British actor when he stopped by our MTV Newsroom recently, we gave him a little "Star Trek" quiz to see how much insider info he's picked up during shooting so far. As it turns out, he's got some homework to do — that, or he's really good at messing with us.

In all honesty, our "Trek" questions were not too difficult. For example, when we asked if he knew what a Klingon was, Cumberbatch claimed he did not. "What do they look like?" he asked, seeming genuinely interested to hear the answer.

When we showed him the famous split-fingered Vulcan salute made famous by Spock, he offered a creative interpretation of what the salute actually means. "Uh, I've sprained my fingers and both of them have splints," he said. "Or they're webbed and I don't want you to see it," which he followed by quoting "Mork & Mindy," the popular '80s sitcom that made a star of Robin Williams. "Nanu, nanu," he said with a grin.

"You're in the 'Mork & Mindy' movie?" we asked. "Congratulations!"

"Yeah. I'm playing Mork and Mindy," Cumberbatch joked.

Unsurprisingly, he also claimed to not know anything about the SS Botany Bay, which was the famous Trek villain Khan's ship. The cagey actor explained that he prefers to approach all his roles with as little insider information as possible.

"I think it's best to, like a lot of acting you do, you have to start from a knowledge base of zero in order to have every experience that you're portraying again and again and again feel like fresh," he said. "So I purposefully made no attempt to learn anything about anything."

Somehow we think the charming, clever man was having a bit of fun with us and is just trying to hide his inner "Trek" nerd for a while longer. He has told us previously that he's had a great time on set thus far.

"It's a real privilege to be on that set. There's a patter and a kind of knowledge of who they're playing and the other main characters, which I'm learning a lot from. It's just good fun. It's great to work with Chris [Pine]. He's very professional. So is Zach [Quinto], who I've been working a lot with; I adore him, he's a brilliant, brilliant guy.

New/Old Willow Smith Music Video: "Do It Like Me (Rockstar)"

It's actually an old music video, according to the 11-year old, who Tweeted a link to the following yesterday and wrote: "This video is old but I still love it."

It includes shot of Willow dancing through a variety of well-known cities, including New York and Paris. She dons pants, a studded jacket or two and, yes, she whips her hair a bit. Big brother Jaden Smith even stops by for a cameo!

• I thought it would be helpful to answer the five questions I am asked most often on my travels. They cover advice, inspiration, motivation and regret. Let me know if you have other questions you are keen to know the answers to.

1. What Is The Best Advice You Ever Got..? / Business Innovation

• Three gems come to mind. First, an enduring one from my mother, Eve, who always taught me never to look back in regret but to move on to the next thing. The amount of time people waste dwelling on failures rather than putting that energy into another project always amazes me. I have had fun running all of the Virgin businesses, so I never see a setback as a bad experience; it is just a learning curve.
• My mother also told me not to openly criticize other people. If she heard me speaking ill of someone, she would make me stand in front of the mirror for five minutes and stare at myself. Her reasoning? All my critical talk was a poor reflection on my own character.
• In the 1980s Freddie Laker, the British airline executive, gave me a great piece of advice on setting up my own airline. He told me two key things: ?You?ll never have the advertising power to outsell British Airways. You are going to have to get out there and use yourself. Make a fool of yourself. Otherwise you won?t survive.? He also wisely said: ?Make sure you appear on the front page and not the back pages.? I?ve followed that advice ever since. I?ve been very visible and made a fool of myself on more than one occasion. / Business Innovation /

2. And The Worst Advice..? / Business Innovation

• I?d never embarrass the person who gave it by revealing that. Advice comes in many forms. I believe in never asking just one person but in asking many. Opinions always vary. By asking several people what they think, you get many angles and can weigh them all. This way, you are never considering just one person?s opinion, so no one piece of advice is ever truly bad. / Business Innovation /

• To remember that it is impossible to run a business without taking risks. Virgin would not be the company it is today if we had not taken risks along the way. You really do have to believe in what you are doing. Devote yourself to it 100 percent and be prepared to take a few hits along the way. If you go into something expecting it to fail, nine times out of 10, it will.
• Above all, remember to have fun with it. That keeps you and your colleagues enthusiastic and motivated. One of my favourite sayings summarizes this perfectly: ?The brave may not live forever ? but the cautious do not live at all!? / Business Innovation /

4. InYour Career You Have Had Lots Of Successes, But You Have Failed In Some Businesses. What Have You Learned From Those..? / Business Innovation /

• As an entrepreneur you have to learn very quickly that there?s no such thing as a failure. Looking back on Virgin?s history, our ability to adapt quickly to changes has helped mitigate reverses. You must be quick to accept that something is not going well and either change tack or close the business. We run our companies lean and small; there is very little red tape and certainly no bureaucracy. We make and implement decisions quickly ? usually before our competitors in the market have held their fifth meeting on the same issue.
• Though I believe in taking risks, I also firmly believe in ?protecting the downside.? This means working out in advance all the things that could go wrong and making sure you have all those eventualities covered. We have come close to failure many times. Most entrepreneurs skirt close to it. I nearly failed when Virgin was in its infancy, I nearly failed in the early 1980s, and, of course, I have nearly died more than once trying to achieve world records for boating or ballooning. But through a combination of luck and planning, both Virgin and I are still here. / Business Innovation /

5. Do You Have Any Regrets..? / Business Innovation

• There are always things in life that you might regret, and there are probably a lot of business decisions I regret ? but I try not to dwell on them. I move on to more positive things.
• One missed opportunity does rankle still. That was the chance to run theUnited Kingdom?s national lottery. Our proposal was to run a not-for-profit game, with much of the money going to good causes, but we were just beaten by the eventual winner.
• We have moved on and set up Virgin Unite, our foundation, to act as the catalyst to helping others and galvanizing our companies into action. It has been crucial in helping us establish The Elders and The Carbon War Room, initiatives aimed at solving conflict and helping to combat climate change.
• And finally, I am often asked: Are you a man of habits?
• I guess being a serial entrepreneur is a pretty big habit. / Business Innovation /

• globalnewspointer.net: The main point of interest for an entrepreneur here is to always find the power to sustain or develop his business and move forward.
• Moving forward isn?t an easy decision or goal and this is becoming realistically true at times of economic crisis.

McCann Invests $4M in Israeli Incubator ?thetime?
