Ambiance brings their collection of soothing sounds to Android

For some folks sounds have a huge impact on many aspects of their life. Listening to rain while they sleep, thunderstorms while they work, crackling fire while reading a book. It adds a level of comfort to have the environment around them enhanced by sound. Ambiance has been a leader of the environment enhancement space on other platforms and now they've released their app for Android powered devices. As you'd expect, the full set of features has made the transition as well:

• Download only the sounds you want to save space on your device.
• Wake up gently to any sound fading in.
• Fill your screen with HD images that fit each sound perfectly.
• Create custom sound mixes to further customize your Ambiance.

Ambiance has over 2500 sounds in their catalog and constantly adding more to the mix daily. Personally, I love the sound of rain and thunderstorms while I sleep and having the ability to create a mix of that is worth the buy in cost of $2.99 for the app. Sadly though, Ambiance has not made a free demo version available via either the Google Play Store or the Amazon App Store so you're on your own determining if the app is worth that much. Google Ventures-Backed Location-Sharing Service EchoEcho Raises $750k From Bullpen, PROfounders

EchoEcho is one of the more useful location-based applications on the market today. Instead of focusing on check-ins and deals, the application simply makes it easy for you to find out where your friends are and lets you set up a meeting with them. Last September, EchoEcho raised $750,000 from Google Ventures, UK-based venture firm PROfounders and Don Dodge. The company just told us that it has raised another $750,000. This round was led by Bullpen Capital with participation by PROfounders Capital. EchoEcho plans to use this new funding to grow its team and focus on user acquisition.

Rihanna Brings Eye-Popping Sets To 'Saturday Night Live'

Despite early talk, singer did not appear in any of episode's skits.

Marking her third appearance on "Saturday Night Live," Rihanna proved that the third time's a charm when the pop titan took over the Studio 8H stage on Saturday for a pair of eye-popping performance sets during the Eli Manning-hosted episode.

Standing before an oversized crystallized spider web in the middle of the black-lit stage, Rihanna began her first number with the buzzing sounds of "Birthday Cake." It was a surprising song selection that momentarily suggested the possibility of an onstage reunion with birthday boy Chris Brown, but "Cake" ended quickly, instead leading into a medley of her tune "Talk That Talk."

" 'SNL,' put your hands together like this," she told the crowd.

With her backup dancers on hand, Rih kept the performance straightforward, offering viewers some simple shakes, pelvis thrusts and plenty of swag. One complaint was with the echo effect that was added to her microphone, which made the singer's vocal sound shaky at times.

However, any issues with the opening number were soon forgotten when the pop star took to the stage for her follow-up performance of her brand-new single, "Where Have You Been." Fronting an Arabian-themed backdrop and human props, Rihanna threw on a fierce game face and danced her way through the track with steady energy. It was a welcome change to see the Barbadian singer show off some footwork.

Unfortunately, the episode ended without any mention of "Shy Ronnie," her first digital short, or any Rihanna-featured skits at all, even though "SNL" head honcho Lorne Michaels had told reporters on Wednesday that he was trying to work out the details on incorporating Rihanna into the sketch lineup.

Shy Ronnie may have not made an appearance, but Saturday's gig was the perfect vehicle to promote her just-released single as well as her big-screen acting debut in the summer flick "Battleship," which hits theaters May 18.

A deep question pervades the debates surrounding religion?whether God exists, sure, but that one is mighty difficult to answer. Instead we can ask a related, more approachable query: Why does God exist for some of us but not for others? Theologians and ministers preach that faith is preeminently a matter of personal choice. Is it, really?

Not everyone is a believer, of course, nor do we all maintain allegiance to a single belief system throughout the course of our life. Almost half of American adults, for example, have changed religious affiliation at least once during their lifetime, and most do so before age 24, according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. Although religious affiliation may be fluid, once people enter adulthood they tend to stick with one category, retaining either faith in God or the absence thereof.
